Tito and Luis are stuffed with pizza! Tito ate one-fourth of a cheese pizza. Tito ate three-eighths of a pepperoni pizza. Tito ate one-half of a mushroom pizza. Luis ate five-eighths of a cheese pizza. Luis ate the other half of the mushroom pizza. All the pizzas were the same size. Tito says he ate more pizza than Luis because Luis did not eat any pepperoni pizza. Luis says they each ate the same amount of pizza. 

Who is correct? Explain how you got the answer. Then tell us what your favorite kind of pizza is!

    Luis is correct. This is because Tito ate one-fourth, which is converted into two-eighths, of a cheese pizza, three-eighths of a pepperoni pizza, and one-half, which is converted into four-eighths of a mushroom pizza. In total, that would equal nine-eighths, or 1 1/8, eaten pizza. Luis ate half, or four-eighths, of the mushroom pizza, and five-eighths of the cheese pizza. This is totaled up to nine-eighths, or 1 1/8, consumed pizza. As a result, Tito and Luis ate the same amount of pizza. Also, I don't normally enjoy pizza, but I like mushroom.

    Luis is correct. Tito ate 2/8+3/8+4/8, which is 1 1/8. LUis ate 5/8+4/8, which is also 1 1/8. In conclusion, they ate the same amount of pizza.
